We really miss this place! The location was spectacular, far off the beaten track and strikingly beautiful. As we went in November, the nights were dark and cold, and it felt so serene soaking in the hot tub outside while looking up at the stars and hearing just the sound of a waterfall close-by. We were even fortunate enough to see the aurora coming from behind the mountains next to the lodge.

The lovely innkeeper Agusta (I hope I am spelling her name correctly), who is an excellent cook, made our stay at Vogur Country Lodge one of the most enjoyable hotel stays ever.

This place is out of the way with gorgeous views. We were the only ones at the hotel.besides the staff so we were treated like Kings. Viktor was amazing. He made us a delicious sweet potato bisque with home made rye bread that he got from his home country if Hungary. The rooms were clean, comfortable, very nice and cozy. Breakfast had a large variety of anything we wanted. This was our first hotel in Iceland but one of the best. The drive to the hotel from the main road is bumbu but worth it.

We loved our stay at Vogur! The room was sparkling clean, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside (which is stunning and so quiet). The food was delicious (we had a delicious dinner in the evening). The staff, especially Theresa, were lovely and super welcoming. We also met the owner, who was very friendly and gave us tips about places to visit in the region. There are plenty of hikes to do in the beautiful surroundings and this is a perfect place to come for quiet reflection and relaxation. Highly recommended!

If you are chasing the Northern Lights this is the place to be. It is out there. Way out there. Like 40KM from the last paved roads. It was sure fun driving for more than half an hour with no guard rails at night in the rain. Once up there the howling wind was fun and the hotel for the price is amazing.

Great place. Clean. Great look. Up and away from town and everything. Friendly staff. Beautiful waterfall behind it. I gave it a 4 star just because it was pretty chilly. There was the sound of strong wind coming from the bathroom vent, but I attributed that to a very super windy night. We had the heat all the way up, and we didn't see any vents, so we weren't sure how that worked. Otherwise a very awesome place! Worth staying!

This is one of the best places to stay in Iceland hands down. The mountain behind the hotel provides a great challenge to hike or if you want just go to the top of the water fall behind the hotel and enjoy the outside. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is top notch. I have enjoyed the many months I have stayed here and will never forget it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Excellent remote destination with modern, clean rooms. The chef here is top notch. This place is truly a miracle, with decent Internet (3Mbps) and amenities, despite it's location. I was fortunate enough to have clear skies and thus saw Aurora Borealis on my first night. The last leg of the trip here is on a gravel road and not the smoothest ride, but it was well worth it. It's a drive best done during daylight hours so you can take in the views.

Stayed for 2 nights. Lovely place, lots of nature and peace! Dinner was fantastic, and the room was great!. They are still building the facilities out but no disturbance to us at all. The personnel are fantastic and very helpful. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. About 2 hours from downtown Reykjavik.
