We had our son's fifth birthday party at Happy Trails and had a magnificent time. Everyone was pleasant, patient and extremely helpful, and the experience turned our son into a horse lover. He's taken riding lessons ever since and I am so thrilled that his first horse experience at Happy Trails gave him the introduction to horses that we were hoping for. We look forward to our son continuing lessons at Happy Trails as soon as he is old enough! These people are wonderful!

Managing a safe environment with horses and kids can definitely be stressful and we really appreciated the time and consideration the hostess put into this. The two hour time slot has three activities and then you have a half hour to eat or have cake. This worked out really great as the kids were engaged the whole time. The hostess was very ready to resolve any issues and quick to respond to questions. A good time was had by all.

This review has nothing to do with the family whose party we attended (a four year old's birthday party) or the care of the horses, all of whom seemed appropriately taken care of to me, although I am not knowledgable in this area. The issue is with the woman who apparently was in charge of the farm and of the party from the venue's end; she repeatedly belittled and yelled at the four children in attendance, including--and most frequently--at the four-year-old birthday girl herself, including asking her if she "even wanted to have her party" because she was apparently too excited to see the horses and not listening attentively enough to the "hostess" as she spoke about horse health issues inappropriate for children (including how sick horses were on a scale of 1-5 upon her meeting them).

After one of the children was playing with a silent toy put out for guests by the family while this "hostess" from the farm screamed at the children her three rules for riding the horse available to them, she threatened the children that she had "her own baby upstairs" that she could be with instead of out there with them, children who "didn't want to listen." She made the children upset and less interested in engaging with the animals.

The family who was having the party here was extremely polite and attempted to be understanding, despite the woman treating all guests poorly. I would strongly discourage any sort of interaction with this woman or visits to this farm.

Let me preface this review by stating that I would never hold a working farm to the same level of customer service expectations for hosting an event/party as I would a resort or theme park. These kinds of events are usually designed to be supplemental income to help offset the expenses of running a farm. I get that. And as such, we completely expected a rustic setting and were ready to accommodate any inconveniences because that's what a gracious guest does in these situations. However, Farmer Lucy was in a sour mood from the start.

We all have bad days, but when you take that out on your customers, you immediately lose that customer's business plus every single friend and family member they talk to. Needless to say, if you have a scene in front of an entire birthday party, you're all but confirming the demise of your business. Especially without any form of an apology or acknowledgment of poor planning on their part.

I strongly suggest anyone considering Happy Trails for a children's birthday party please look elsewhere. This is not the appropriate setting or ownership for any such service. We arrived 5 minutes early and were scolded in the parking area, where Lucy told us, "You're too early. I said 9:30 and I meant it." storming off after we greeted her with a friendly smile and hello.

We were about ready to leave then and there, but decided to stick it out for our three year old who was so excited for a farm birthday. We were told where to put our things and waited until 10:00 patiently, with no further instruction or interaction. No idea of where a restroom was we could use or what the plan was for the horses, who I will admit at least looked happy and well cared for.

At 10:05 Lucy told us rather rudely that she still saw guests arriving and wouldn't start until everyone had arrived. We tried to push the reset button, introducing ourselves and the birthday boy, to which we received an eye roll and more attitude, at which point we promptly gathered our things and took our party somewhere a little more happy. Don't come here with your kids, folks. There are other issues going on here that need to be resolved immediately if they expect to remain in business. Happy trails these are not.

Sharing in hopes that another family doesn't have a ruined farm party. Farmer Lucy had several screaming outbursts at my family prior to the party starting. She was very rude, condescending, and unwelcoming. We were so shocked and uncomfortable that we packed the children and guests up and left immediately. This is not a safe place to bring children and guests.

Personally I would not give this any stars! Our grandson was looking forward to riding the ponies at his 3rd birthday party. I have to say it was a relief to get away from the rude individual that attempts to operate this so called business! Once we left we all had a great time and the grandson had a wonderful party! For those looking for a birthday venue for young ones, this is not a good place. There are many, many other places in the area with much nicer people and accommodations.

We had hoped to celebrate our grandson's birthday at Happy Trails, but the woman who was supposed to be our hostess was rude, obnoxious, mean, and was scary not only to the kids, but adults too --so we left and went to a much more pleasant and inviting environment & had a great gathering. Would not recommend this place unless they send staff to customer service training!

We were invited to a birthday party. You only get a two hour window to have this party. The kids got to ride once in a circle if the child hesitated they missed out because of the time crunch. The hayride is only done once and not enough room for everyone. I think its a great idea for a party but its not enough time and the kids need more time with the horses and the hayride.

We took our daughter here for her 6th birthday. The kids had a great time, the people there were great. We will be back, either for summer camp or another party, probably both.
