CJO presents 5-6 large scale season series concerts each year, featuring guest artists and a range of themes. Recent guests have included Maria Schneider, Regina Carter, Joe Lovano, and Vanessa Rubin. In 2021-2022, we made our season series concert home at the incredible Maltz Performing Arts Center, in University Circle.
In addition to our concert series, you can catch us at various venues around town all year, in clubs like the Bop Stop and BLU Jazz+ Akron, at summer festivals, in places of worship, in theaters, and more!.
Whether you need one performer, a trio or the full orchestra, we can help make your event a success!. Part of the mission of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra is to provide employment opportunities for our community's finest jazz musicians, linking talented professionals with serious consumers interested in supporting live jazz. Our band features artists who represent the highest level of musicianship and professionalism in any setting.
The CJO takes educational responsibility seriously and presents a variety of programs to nurture the region's neophyte jazz musicians and listeners. Most of CJO's performers are also educators who work regularly with collegiate groups (Kent State University, Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University, Case Western Reserve University, Ashland University, The University of Akron, The Ohio State University and Cuyahoga Community College) and younger students (Cleveland Heights Public Schools, Garfield Heights Public Schools, Hawken Schools, Cleveland Municipal School District).
Our efforts to bring awareness and appreciation of jazz to the community have been made possible by the generous support of these foundation and government organizations:. Your company will be associated with something important happening in the arts world. The CJO is a great success story. In the last ten years we have doubled our number of concerts, quadrupled our total audience and have expanded our outreach programming, offering free concerts in the community - because no one should be turned away from experiencing this important art form.
