We are the Associated Musicians of Greater New York, American Federation of Musicians Local 802, the largest local union of professional musicians in the world. We unite to fight for the common interests of all musicians by advancing industry standards that dignify our labor and honor and enrich our art. We seek to organize a community of all musicians and aspiring musicians, and we reach out to all who share our interests and our passion.

We are committed to upholding the integrity of live musical performance and to advancing the vital role of music in education, and in the economic, cultural and social life of our community and beyond.
Services
The Hotline is a fast way for Local 802 members to alert your union about concerns relating to work you have been offered or work that is on-going. That includes both union work and work not covered under a union contract, incidents at workplaces involving employers or contractors, or other matters that require a rapid response.
Local 802 has over 70 union contracts that cover work with individual ensembles and employers, as well as with entire portions of the music industry. These contracts provide musicians with the fair wages, health and pension contributions, and workplace and employee protections necessary to ensure that musicians can afford to live and raise a family by doing what they do best - make music.
Local 802's Resource Center guides members to access entrepreneurship opportunities & support through curated links and information. The New York State SBDC offers free business consulting to any New Yorker hoping to start or grow a small business. The SBDC also offers a host of programs designed for specific groups of entrepreneurs.
