I wonder how many of our children are aware of the wealth of wildlife that can be found locally. Many of us have heard of “Save the Whales”, or “Save the Rainforest,” but children must be taught to respect the animals in their own backyards before they can grasp other environmental concerns. It is very gratifying to be able to come home and do something today, all by yourself, that makes the world just a little bit better.
My name is Annie Harris, and I want to share my love of animals with children and teach them to respect and protect wild and domestic animals. A “hands-on” approach seems to work best with children, so I make sure this is the highlight of my programs.
For the safety of the children and the animals, I bring only domestic and exotic pets to the classroom or home, but relate how their wild cousins raise families, eat, and survive. Each child will be given an opportunity to hold and interact with the animals I bring with me.
Since January 1994, I have presented nature programs at hundreds of schools, nursing homes, and birthday parties to children aged 2 to 13. The children, as well as their teachers and parents, have enthusiastically received all of the programs. I have been invited back every year to many of these schools. Letters of reference (the Flower Market, local TV, and others) will gladly be supplied upon request.
I enjoy teaching my three children all about nature and take most of the credit for the love and respect they have of all living things (with the exception of each other.)
Too often today children may not learn this at home. Please give me the opportunity to inform and entertain your children and students and possibly leave them with a lasting respect for animals and each other.

Last month (Sept 22) you and your animals attended my daughter Emmaline’s 6th birthday party. The children (and the adults) enjoy themselves very much. Everyone had their favorite animal. I sent the pictures to Emmaline’s daddy (he is in Iraq) and he loved them. Thank you for making my daughter’s party special. You did a wonderful job!
